High-quality and reliable services require responsibility to the customers, personnel and other important partners in all activities. Itella is committed to sustainable development. We strive to operate responsibly towards the society, environment and our own employees.
We value cooperation. Our approach to corporate responsibility is based on our four values:
- We provide benefit to the customer
- We focus on renewal
- We keep our promises
- We work in co-operation
|Responsibility is a Part of Everyday Work
“Our activities affect millions of people in Finland and hundreds of thousands of enterprises and communities. Responsibility is a part of everyday work. We actively develop our activities as a more responsible company, based on sustainable development.”
Jukka Alho, CEO
In addition to the group's strategy, our activities are steered by Itella's values, ethical guidelines and definitions on personnel policy. According to our HR policy, Itella's management is based on respecting people and equality. The focal points of the personnel policy for 2008 are securing the availability and permanency of the workforce and supporting changes.
Environmental issues are a central part of Itella's corporate responsibility and they are also reflected in Itella's Code of Ethics, adopted in 2006. We reduce the environmental impacts of sorting and delivery operations and develop new electronic business activities in a goal-oriented way. In this way, we can also meet the ecological expectations of our customers and other stakeholders and ensure long-term business continuity. Enhancing the flow of physical material and converting paper communications to an electronic format are Itella's core competencies.
Controlling climate change is integral to our environmental strategy and one of the most important indicators of environmental efficiency is the amount of carbon dioxide. Our long-term objective is to cut carbon dioxide emissions relative to turnover by 30% by 2020, compared to the situation in 2007.
We take our financial responsibility into account by ensuring sustainable and profitable growth in a long-term and effective manner. A healthy financial performance is the best guarantee of high quality, competitive services for all our customers - households, corporate customers and communities. By maintaining profitable and sustainable business growth, Itella ensures that it will continue to be a competitive company and a good employer.
